Intro
to Photography
[updated Nov.
29, 2001]
There were several
projects done for this class. Because each one
is a series of images, I've grouped them into seperate sections.
Selfish:
self-portraiture, explored!
Shifts
of Eight: One image per word in an eight-word
sentence (from any source). While trying to think of this, I happened
to remember a quote from my 9th Grade English teacher, which was
told to us every week for the entire year I had him: "Women
are the quintissentially damned of the species," a literary
quote by author Thomas Hardy. An essential description of many
of his books. For a brief explanation of the images, turn to the
dictionary. If you still don't get it, then email me and I'll
do my best to explain...
Chance [updated]:
Using the element of chance to create images we might normally
never take. To prevent complete manipulation, I chose to do double-exposures
(using one roll of film twice) to get these unexpected results...
Compositions
1 and 2:
My final project. Culled from pictures I had taken throughout
the course, and specifically for this project. The theme is "man-made
objects." Part 1 are things I found out in the world, and
part 2 are from a series of office building lights (all the same
building).
Scarecrow
Series: While walking around one day, I came upon a
field of scarecrows made by an enterprising kid's craft class.
A not-to-be-missed photo opportunity. 3-4 of this group will be
submitted with my photo major portfolio submission. I only wish
I had room for more images - probably my favorite group of photos.
Miscellaneous:
Single images of compositions, abstractions, people, and of course,
the obligatory pet photo (hey, at least I tried to make it interesting)...
